Hi Craig_d1
Sounds like the tealeafs went on tour in our area. I normally keep our vehicles in the garage so it was a shock that the spare was taken during the few nights it was in front of the house. I had some bodywork repair done at Basingstoke and the spare was checked as present on collection, returned on the 17 Jan, then the annual service on 3rd Feb (at Ascot) reported spare nicked. Between 17th Jan & 3rd Feb vehicle was parked in front of house maybe 5 nights. Quite a coincidence it was nicked in that short period - it's been about 10 yrs since the tealeafs toured our area and smashed car windows for anything they could drag out of the car.
I am waiting for the snow in front of the house to clear and I 'should' find the remains of the spare winch wire rope and block. If I don't find it I may be back to the police to suggest they check the bodywork firm and the Ascot service centre.
My 'friendly' service garage at Ascot gave me an estimate of ~£900 to replace the spare/winch (with another which is easy to nick). Nuts - you can DIY it for ~ £400. (My insurance excess is £450).
btw I live on Park Avenue off Park Road. You close by?
I am just ordering the D4 winch from Nick Lee (£66) Nick Lee the-large-one
And the protector from RLD (£81.50) Ray Dewhurst RLD
Then I need a 19" spare wheel with tyre - any 2nd hand one with tread will do as a spare. since it will probabaly never be seen/used or just for a few days.
Damn tealeafs Camberley, Surrey.

Hi Greenstead,
I live down Middleton Road(goes into Upper Park Road) so literally just around the corner from you.
Only realised spare was nicked when we had the service, which was yesterday. we get it done at Reading. It's our 2nd service and cost over£600. Don't know how that compares to Ascot?
Bought a wheel protector from Ray earlier today, so should be in the post tomorrow morning he said:)
As for the winch, my wife ordered that from LR Reading yesreday when they told her it need replacing and I think is costing twice as much as you paid. Not to sure if I can cancel the order now it's been placed.
As for the tyres etc, ordered 4 19in alloys off ebay for £400 delivered. 2 of the alloys are slightly kerbed, 2 in perfect condition. Was going to get a pirelli tyre and put it on one of the kerbed wheels(keep the perfect ones in case we kerb 1 of ours) and use that.
However just bought a brand new pirelli tyre with 19in alloy off ebay for £200 delivered, (as cheaper than just buying the tyre). He 's got 1 more but it's with goodyear tyre on it, don't know what your car is shod with. He'll pack it with mine if your interested. delivery will be next tues/wed he said

Wow - new winch & protector received safe & sound.
And poor postie brought it all in his bicycle basket.
Wheel in progress.
Boy, is that some protector. Cool and solid as a (metal) rock. Shame to hide it under the vehicle.
Hey Ray has anyone ever broken thru your protector (or tried)?
So, for less than £350, I've done what LR wanted £900 for, and its protected too!
Thankyou guys. Thankyou. Camberley, Surrey.

RLD and TLO
Guys have just got to say thanks yet again.
Ordered the D4 spare wheel winch (for my D3) from Nick (TLO) around 3:00pm thursday afternoon and it was on my doorstep at 8:00am this morning now thats what I call service and at a good price. Thanks again Nick top bloke with a top service.
Wanted to order a spare wheel protector off uncle Ray to which he informs me he's not far from me and actually dropped it off at my door this afternoon - what a top guy, it was great to meet him and have a chat and also a great sturdy product. Cheers again Ray.
All I have to do now is fit them

Wheel arrived now - Under £200 brand new alloy with tyre delivered.
I wonder if we're buying each others nicked spares?
All I have to do now is fit the winch + wheel + protector?
I can't even lift the wheel!
Guess there'e some smart roll & slide technique. Hours of fun.
Which way up does the wheel go, alloy up or down? Camberley, Surrey.

Alloy goes on facing upwards so posh side of alloy up against boot floor and spare wheel protector fits into the dish of the wheel Cheers Ian
