| Changing head light direction! |

Well I have read the hand book & if I'm right this is the way to change the head light direction when going abroad!
Remove the grill & lights!
Back of the light remove gray cover, inside you will see a leaver (A) to move a slide at the bottom (B)
Have not tried it with the lights still in the car, but it would make a lot more sense!

On that basis, changing the oil must be done by taking the engine out and shaking it

Reckon you are right but if you do not know what you are felling for it's not easy! Using the hand book with its picture was still not clear, hopefully these photos will help to give others an idea where they are! Discovery 3 TDV6 SE

Need to do this in a few days time, but don't fancy taking the grill off etc, as it is an overnight Tunnel crossing (chance of dropping a bit and loosing it).
When you refer to the fact that you can do this with the lights still in the car, do you mean you can do it just by lifting the bonnet and 'feeling around' 
The car already 'hacks' off other motorists with its bright dipped head lights, I don't really want to dazzle everyone who passes me by when I'm in Europe - other than by the shear presence of the D3

Take the grey cap off the back of each light - it twists about 15 degrees then you'll probably need to gently lever it off (only fits one way so make a note of which bit is up) - then you should be able to have a feel.
It only take a couple of minutes to take the grill off (4 clips on top, 1 each side) and lights out (two 'sliders' that'll need levering up for each one) so it's not a major job either way

It shouldn't do, sounds like the lights need adjustment, take it to your dealer and get them to check it out. Even though the lights are nice and bright - especialy the xenons - by law they should be aligned not to dazzle other motorists when dipped

Nick, they can be done in situ and yes it is a stupid little lever. Taking the car apart is a bit extreme, but well done, is it back together again now or are you coming to Rockingham lightless Taking the light units completely out could put them out of alignment.
Its a dammed good way of cleaning behind the headlights after offroading though. Have you found out how the compressor comes out yet, that would be very useful

Nick,
These are the Zenons yes ?
Also you cannot see the lever by just feeling around... so you would not know which way is correct for the UK / Europe ?
Taking the lights out seems to be the only sure fire way to do this... but again. Is it lever up or down for UK ?

Right I have just tried to change the lights in the car & NO WAY can I change them with out taking them out & the grill!!!!
Being sad I have just timed doing as the book, it took 7.25 mins to do if you know that you are doing so I guess a 10 min job to change them!
The black tape looks easy now!

Any chance of getting Denmark to totally reject Europe (No to Euro) and convert to driving on the Left... by the weekend after next

I must have ladies hands then, as I successfully changed the lights twice in situ whilst waiting for my hoverspeed 'flights'. I'll admit that the driver's side one is a pig, but as Brian points out, I was concerned with having to realign the lights if I took them out. Plus I might have broken a manicured nail on the metal slides....
